Tsukumi Hyugadon

Oita Gourmand Grand Prix Gold Award for 2 consecutive years

A bowl of red tuna mixed with a special sesame sauce containing soy sauce, sugar, etc. and placed on hot rice.

What is Hyugadon?

Tsukumi Hyugadon is a dish designed by Hotojima fishermen, who have prospered as a base for pelagic fishing since the Meiji era, to quickly get nutrition during harsh fishing.

Hyugadon is a dish that can be eaten without using fire even on a ship with strong winds. There are various theories that the name comes from the fact that the sound of the wind sounds like "hu-hu-hu", but it is still a mystery.
