#62 Tsukumi fun dance competition
~ Gracefully dancing dance ~

It is said that about 450 years ago, the fan dance was founded with the wishes of the warriors and peasants who died during the Warring States period.
This dance is like seeing the spirit of a brave warrior drawing his bow, the ancient but elegant "awase-kagami" (mirror mirror) in the middle of a melee, and even the cry of victory, "Ei-Ei-Oh!" It feels like seeing the spirit of a warrior remembering those days. The beautiful dance, with its graceful, splendid, and joyful expressions of sorrow and joy, and the flow of the folding fan, has been handed down to the present day as a local performing art representing Tsukumi City, and in Heisei 24, it was designated an intangible folk cultural asset of Oita Prefecture.
Every year in the end of the 8th month August, "Tsukumi fun dance competition" is held, and about 800 people from adults to children's groups in Tsukumi city, including "Fan dance girls" certified by the city, perform fan dance.
